Services

Communication Station is a fee-for-service provider.  This means that services will be offered in a “cash or check” only format.  We are more than happy to provide you a letter (including necessary information) and/or an itemized bill, which you may submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

Screenings

Screenings are a quick way to measure if a child’s speech and language development is on track.  They typically take no longer than 10 minutes of time.  They can indicate if a full, more comprehensive evaluation is warranted.  

Evaluations

A full evaluation generally takes one hour and depending on the age of the child will consist of a test battery.  For very young children, a large portion of the assessment will be parent

interview and questionnaires. Afterwards, Elizabeth will score the testing instruments and determine need of service, goals, duration and frequency of therapy.  You will receive a comprehensive report, which will be reviewed with you in detail.  A copy will be sent to your child’s pediatrician, as well as their school, if you wish.

Therapy

Therapy is almost always conducted on an individual basis. Usually, treatment sessions will be one hour in length.  Group sessions are also available, and are recommended depending upon individual need. Therapy duration is recommended on a case-by-case basis, as treatment is highly customized.  For very young children (birth -3), parents are encouraged to be involved in the therapy sessions to help make the most out of treatment.  For older children, “homework” will be assigned each session to promote mastery and carryover of skills.

At this time, therapy is provided in your home or your child’s preschool/daycare.

**Periodic progress reports may be requested by your therapist.  These are typically conducted every 6-12 months and can help direct therapy goals and objectives**
